What I read this week – Episode #3
What’s been happening with ME this week:
Hurray! My website is back up and working again!
It took me about a week and a half of trying out different themes and adjusting plugins/widgets and all that other junk before I finally bit the bullet and paid for a premium theme.
I don’t regret paying for a theme at all! I was spending so much time and effort trying to figure stuff out that my friends were telling me just to quit because I looked so stressed out by it all. But the premium theme actually comes with an amazing support team that can give me answers to my ridiculous and simple (sometimes not so simple) questions without me pulling my hair out in front of error messages on my website. I think they’ve probably already paid for themselves! So now I can get back to just enjoying writing and chatting with you guys!
You might also notice that I’ve included a cheekly wee Adsense box over there on the right. But why? I hear you ask.
Well, I don’t anticipate making any money from Adsense, but since starting this blog and showing it to people – I’ve noticed that people outside of the ‘bloggersphere’ are very easily impressed by what I’ve set up here.
It might not take much effort for me or you to fiddle around with settings, and a wee bit of CSS, maybe some social networking etc etc, but I can understand that others are very intimidated by that. Perhaps they are so intimidated by it that they might be willing to pay for someone else to do it for them. That’s something I could do! This is a side income that I’ve only given a quick thought to before – but since starting this blog for myself and learning by making mistakes as I go along, I now feel more confident that I would be able to provide an actual service to people.
So adding an Adsense widget into my blog kinda made sense to me so that if a ‘client’ (phwoar that sounds grown up!) asked me to put a similar system on to their website then I would at least be able to tell my arse from my elbow, if you know what I mean.
Also:
I very potentially have a new job that I am incredibly excited about. We’re just working out the final details (hopefully in time for Christmas) so that’s the reason I’m not announcing anything to anyone yet (even close friends) until I know for certain what the plan is!
But anyway, I am avoiding the main subject of this post, which is
